Kent Miller was born and raised in California and has spent the majority of his life in Kern County. Miller joined the Supplemental Instruction Program in November 2008 as a Supplemental Instructional Assistant. He has worked as an SI for math, English, ESL, history, journalism and statistics classes.
Prior to coming to Taft College he spent most of his adult life working for weekly and daily newspapers in Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernardino, Riverside and Santa Barbara counties.
Miller has Associate of Arts Degrees in Business Management and Journalism from Cerritos College; a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from California State University, Los Angeles; and a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from CSU, Northridge. He has also attended Bakersfield College; CSU, Bakersfield, where he completed the classes for a multiple-subject (K-8th grade) teaching credential; and the University of La Verne.
Miller spent one year as an adjunct journalism instructor at the Norco Campus of Riverside Community College and one year as a full-time visiting assistant professor of communications at the University of Idaho.
