The STEM Program complements and improves conditions in the classroom while delivering activities and curriculum that comply with state standards and enhance understanding of concepts improving STEM fluency. The Taft College STEM Program provides additional support to area schools by providing resources that may not be available otherwise. Through the use of lesson plans, discussions, demonstrations, and teacher training, students gain a greater appreciation and understanding of STEM with the encouragement to pursue higher education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Engaged and interested minds will see themselves as achieving success in the sciences and progressively feel less alienated in subjects that are traditionally difficult and less frequently pursued in higher education.
The Taft College STEM Program endeavors to improve fluency in the sciences by assisting teachers to deliver high quality STEM-based learning that is relevant and interesting to young minds. Engaged and interested minds will see themselves as achieving success in the sciences and progressively feel less alienated in subjects that are traditionally difficult and less frequently pursued in higher education. The STEM Program aims to support and assist educators in the community with supplemental lesson plans, demonstrations, materials, and equipment that may not readily available for use in their classrooms.
TC STEM hopes to have students start thinking about college early. We host events for area schools to visit Taft College and find out what STEM options are out there. These events help engage the students and start allowing them to see the possibility of college as attainable.
The Taft College ConnExpo (Connected Exploratorium) is a place for learning, discovery, and exploration for students at Taft College and the Taft community at large.
